Firstly...The camera had a day off today. We do this now and then to keep it honest.
We wanted to sleep in today...I don't know why we bother. Lisa and I woke up early again, and got up whilst the kids slept in. Why? I'm not quite sure. We had plenty of time this morning to blog, pack up, have breakfast, get underway and head over to the Musgraves pre lunch.
BAP BOWWWWWW!!
Whilst we were settling into the blog, Ashley woke up, and he in turn woke up Emma, and then Rowan poked his head out of his bed. It was another morning where we had to do washing, so it was off to the laundry with a basket full...except that it didn't open until 0800.
When we planned to do this trip, Lisa and I saved our gold coins for just shy of a year for the purpose of using in the washing machines. All up, we put nearly $400.00 dollars into a tin. Most of that is now gone, and we still have a couple of weeks left. I find it hard to believe that we have spent $400.00 on washing clothes but there you have it.
Every where we have gone, bar a couple of stops, the machines have only consumed $1.00 coins. Our stash of $1's disappeared before we left the Northern Territory, and we have been changing our $2's where we can to feed the washing machines. At Jindabyne, in the games room there was a change machine, so in my infinite wisdom I went there and fed $2 coins into it until it ran out of change to give me. All up, I had only two $2 coins and a bunch of $1 coins for the washing machines when we left the snow fields.
Lisa and I loaded up our washing this morning put the powder in and shut the lids on two machines to find that they only accept $2 coins. That Murphy is a right evil bastard sometimes.
Anyhow, I tell that story because there wasn't much else that happened today. We checked out of the caravan park at the designated check out time of 10am, just after 1130 and drove across to Mornington where we caught up with Faye and Ray, complete with their kids (Tanya, Matt and Adam and wives, husbands and kids and dogs, too many to mention...)
It was Ray's birthday, and he assures me he is turning 40 next year...A very happy birthday to you! Faye put on a fantastic spread of Chinese Food which must have taken her hours to prepare, and then pack neatly into the plastic containers.
Faye and Ray shamelessly insisted on the photo so that they could get themselves into the blog...I should start charging admission. I do have to thank the Musgrave clan for making us welcome, and allowing us to share in your celebrations today. It was fantastic to be able to stop by and catch up with you all.
It was great also to catch up with my cousins whom I realised, apart from Tania, I haven't seen since I was a kid, jumping on the trampoline in their back yard. Ashley, Emma and Rowan were all bitterly disappointed to find out that the trampoline isn't out there any more. Lisa finally relaxed, and sampled a glass or two of a good vintage, and has been merry for the rest of the afternoon.
We finished up today at the Dandenong Big 4 park, which is neat and tidy, and only has the down side of being next to a chicken farm. The nice thing though is I can go outside to get away from the funky smell in the caravan, and when I return it doesn't seem as bad anymore. Lisa and I have grabbed a whole heap of flyers for things to do so we can relax...or not.
The van got another wash down today which has probably been about 40 days overdue, and looks much more presentable. The Jayco factory is a couple of kilometers down the road...I wonder if they could fix our door frame...might have to look into that one. I'm going to hold off on washing the Prado in the hope that they will do it at the service centre when the car goes in this week.
Wow...That's a lot of blog for a very relaxed day.
