Day 24 Litchfield National Park to Darwin

We actually slept-in today until after 8am! Amazing. It helps that sunrise is at a reasonable hour now. Our breakfast and pack up were leisurely as well and we bade farewell to Litchfield and hello to Darwin after a short drive north.

Darwin Free Spirit Resort is enormous! It has over 300 sites, most of them full, in addition to 3 swimming pools, a jumping pillow and various chalets, units, a restaurant and a bar. It is very lush and tropical and it is hot. Hopefully this will continue through to tonight as well. I'm a bit over being freezing at night.

Two loads of washing and a site set-up later and we set out for fish and chips (Barramundi of course) eaten in one of the Esplanade parks of the city proper. We saw world war 2 memorials and explained the significance of Darwin and the bombing of the city in 1942 to the children. Later this week we hope to visit a WWII museum and the oil tunnels.

Rowan's highlight was a self cleaning, electronic toilet which played us music while we did our business and automatically blow dried his hands after washing. We visited the tourist information centre and collected lots of brochures (I think Rowan tried getting one of everything in the place!) and some insight into how to spend some of our time here, then strolled through the main shopping mall in the city. It is very relaxed and laid back up here, to go with the heat.

Time to kick back, relax, jump on the bouncy pillow and settle in.
